There are specific requirements for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac radon testing. HUD radon testing The EPA has divided the country into three radon zones.  Zone 1 has provided the highest radon levels.  Zone 2 has produced mid-level radon levels and Zone 1 has the lowest radon.  However, even if your property is in Zone 1 or 2, it can still test high for radon.

What is Radon?

Radon is an odorless, invisible radioactive gas that comes from uranium in the ground.  It comes into buildings through the foundation.  When radon enters a building, it becomes a health hazard to the occupants who breathe it.  Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers and the EPA estimates that over 21,000 people die in the U.S. each year from radon.
